With the lowest undergraduate tuition in Illinois, GSU offers accredited programs that have earned high praise from national accrediting agencies. We seek candidates with outstanding teaching skills, evidence of (or potential for) a distinguished record of scholarship as well as service to the institution, discipline, and community. Ability to teach Logic & Practical Reasoning or contribute to cross-disciplinary programs in Gender & Sexuality Studies, Global Studies, Political & Social Justice Studies, or Religious Studies is also preferred. This position will also assist in delivering general education courses such as Introduction to Ethics, First Year Seminar (an interdisciplinary humanities course), or Mastering College. The candidate will teach core and elective courses for IDSS majors and PHIL minors. A successful candidate is a teacher-scholar with teaching and research expertise in ethics, including but not limited to interdisciplinary ethics, cross-cultural ethics, healthcare ethics, professional ethics, or justice studies. We seek a teacher-scholar committed to enhancing our culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion and who will complement existing faculty strengths in our Interdisciplinary Studies and Philosophy programs. A doctoral degree in Philosophy, Ethics, Interdisciplinary Studies, or another related field is required prior to appointment. This position is a 10-month contract with a teaching load of 21 credit hours (7 courses) in the fall and spring semesters summer teaching is also available but not required.
